Ford Co-Pilot360™ Explained: The Safety Tech on Every New Ford

Every new Ford comes standard with a suite of driver-assistive and safety technologies called Ford Co-Pilot360™ — but many drivers aren’t fully clear on what it includes, what the different tiers offer, or which features come standard versus available. At Napleton Ford of Oak Lawn, we break it down so you know exactly what’s protecting you before you leave the lot.

What Is Ford Co-Pilot360™?

Ford Co-Pilot360™ is Ford’s branded collection of safety and driver-assistance technologies, standard on most new Ford vehicles. The suite is designed to help prevent collisions, reduce driver fatigue on long drives, and keep you aware of your surroundings — whether you’re navigating Chicago traffic or cruising the highway toward Orland Park.

Co-Pilot360™ comes in three tiers, each building on the last: the standard Co-Pilot360™, Co-Pilot360™ Assist, and Co-Pilot360™ Assist 2.0 with BlueCruise.

Co-Pilot360™ Standard: What Every New Ford Includes

The following features come standard on most new Ford vehicles at no additional charge:

  • Pre-Collision Assist with Automatic Emergency Braking (AEB) — detects vehicles and pedestrians ahead and automatically applies the brakes if the driver doesn’t respond in time
  • Auto High-Beam Headlights — automatically switches between high and low beams based on oncoming traffic, improving nighttime visibility without driver input
  • Lane-Keeping System — alerts the driver and gently corrects steering if the vehicle begins to drift out of its lane
  • BLIS® (Blind Spot Information System) with Cross-Traffic Alert — monitors your blind spots and warns you when vehicles approach from the side or rear while backing out
  • Rear View Camera — standard on all new Fords, automatically activates when reversing

For most Chicagoland drivers, these five features alone make a measurable difference in everyday driving safety.

Co-Pilot360™ Assist: Smarter Highway Driving

Co-Pilot360™ Assist is available as a package upgrade or standard on select trims, adding active driving assistance on top of the standard safety features:

  • Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop-and-Go — automatically maintains your following distance and can bring the vehicle to a complete stop in traffic, then resume when traffic clears
  • Lane Centering — actively steers to keep the vehicle centered in its lane during highway driving, working alongside Adaptive Cruise Control
  • Speed Sign Recognition — reads posted speed limit signs and displays them on the instrument cluster so you’re always aware of the current limit

Co-Pilot360™ Assist is especially valuable for drivers who regularly commute on I-294, I-55, or other high-traffic Chicagoland corridors.

BlueCruise: Hands-Free Highway Driving

Available on select models with Co-Pilot360™ Assist 2.0, BlueCruise is Ford’s hands-free highway driving technology. On pre-mapped, divided highways, BlueCruise allows the driver to take their hands off the wheel while the system manages speed, following distance, and lane position automatically.

BlueCruise uses an infrared driver-facing camera to monitor driver attention — if you look away from the road for too long, the system alerts you and prompts you to retake control. It requires a subscription after an initial trial period and is currently available on:
